LUANN Fan: Looking Back & What's Ahead
Published 2 days ago • 2 min read
Dear Reader,
Happy end of the year—and happy New Year, too! As they say, the days are long but the years are short, and 2025 was no exception. For many of us, it felt packed to the brim (or well over the brim), so we hope this transition into 2026 brings a little breathing room, a little brightness, and plenty to smile about. We hope your days were lightened along the way by Luann and the whole cast of characters.
Here’s a look back at (almost) all they got up to this past year. Cheers to our fans—and to another year ahead of grins, groans, sighs, and celebrations, together.
What do you think 2026 has in store for Luann and the gang? We’re inviting fans to share their predictions for the year ahead—sweet, silly, or surprising. We’ll feature a selection of fan predictions in next month’s LUANN Fan Newsletter. Share your prediction → HERE
From Karen: Did you catch the December 29 strip? Luann had gifted everyone personalized, cheeky T-shirts for Christmas. And what did my dad give for Christmas this year? None other than… personalized, cheeky T-shirts!
In my original draft for this week of strips, Luann had chosen different gifts, which raises the question: did Dad change the jokes because he’d already ordered the shirts in Real Life eight weeks earlier? Or did he come across the idea while working on the gag—and then decide to order them for everyone?
Either way, here’s mine—fitting, don’t you think?
2025: A Look Back
Before we turn the page on the calendar, let’s look back at some of the adventures, discoveries, and dilemmas that filled the LUANNiverse in 2025.
Do you remember when…
Luann set off the year with the best intentions.
Bernice and Luann met Piro's siblings.
Kip chose to get back together with Stefani, much to Tiffany's dismay.
Phil asked Luann out!
Luann organized a blood drive...and kissed Phil! (on the 40th anniversary of the strip)
Brad and Toni took a break to have a different kind of fun.
Bernice and Luann stayed home on their own and hosted a dinner party.
Bernice babysat Shannon and they wrote a book: "Fish and Dragonfly"
Wanting to make more money (to maybe move out), Luann took a job at Weenie World.
Introvert Bernice expanded her friend circle--with a snail for her fish, Monstro.
Luann helped Phil unpack some of his dating trauma.
Tiffany took Les for his first pedicure--and he introduced her to video games.
Bernice discovered that Piro's sibling Alan is a 12 year old genius in her college class.
Gunther and Bets organized a pet adoption fair with Bernice's help.
Luann had a trippy dream (and we see Delta again!)
Dez, and the dorm girls, welcomed her foster dog, Dash.
Brad and Toni dreamed of Christmas: past, present, and future.
With the everyone's help, Dash found a new home with Ox!

Dear Reader, With Halloween around the corner, it's a fun time to imagine what else we could be: not just whether we could have been doctors, but what it would be like to be a dragon, a ghost, or an elven warrior. When he was little, Greg imagined himself as Superman...stoically leaping off the roof of the family's garage...and sloppily landing in a heap below. I, on the other hand, often imagined I was a horse, galloping wild and free all over the playground, pawing the ground and snorting....
Greg and Karen at the NCS Reuben Awards Dear Reader, Fall is in the air and dogs are on our minds, perhaps because Greg and Betty's dog, Charlie, managed to swallow a peach pit and need emergency surgery last month just in time for Betty to miss out on attending the annual National Cartoonists Society's conference and Reuben Awards in Boston. Don't worry, Charlie is 100% a-okay. And we still love pets, as evidenced by our recent storyline in support of Remember Me Thursday which promotes pet...
